Solar panels: a smart investment, not a leap of faith
Choosing to go solar is a significant decision.
Here’s what a solar installation with Viable Power delivers, and how we make the process clear from the start.
Meaningful reduction in energy bills
By generating your own electricity, you use less from the grid — and what you don’t use, you can export and earn from via the Smart Export Guarantee. The saving depends on your system size, usage and tariff, which is why we size every system to your property.
Protection from rising energy prices
UK electricity prices have risen significantly over recent years and are expected to remain volatile. Solar gives you a degree of security — the more you self-consume, the less exposed you are to price increases beyond your control.
A fully compliant, insurable installation
MCS certification is not just a badge — it’s a requirement to access the Smart Export Guarantee and maintain standard home insurance. Every Viable Power installation is MCS certified, with DNO paperwork handled for you as standard.
Added value to your property
A professionally installed, MCS-certified solar system can increase your property’s EPC rating and appeal to buyers who are increasingly factoring energy costs into purchase decisions.
A system designed for your roof
Not every roof is the same. Pitch, orientation, shading, tile type, and available space all affect what’s achievable. We design every system around your property — you’ll know exactly what to expect before anything is agreed.
A local team you can actually reach
We’re based in Farnham, Surrey — not a national call centre. When you have a question after installation, you reach the same team who fitted the system. Our Meet the Team page shows you exactly who you’re dealing with.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great engineers
No faff, good communication, turned up when they said they would. The engineers(Bradley and Steve) completed the job to a high standard, tidied up when they finished and fully explained how the system worked. Proper tradespeople and a top drawer job. Highly recommended 👍
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Top Team!
Top Team! From Rob and Zak at survey, to Bradley and Steve during install (plus their unnamed roofers and sparks), to Zak again at final commissioning.
All parties were friendly, professional, competent, & tidied up on completion!
Early days but PV and battery system seems to be performing great.
I also really like that I can reach out to them via WhatsApp with any queries, including the MD.

Really positive experience from start
Really positive experience from start to finish. Communication was clear, pricing was transparent and the install team were professional, tidy and easy to deal with on the day. The Hypervolt charger was fitted neatly and they even helped reposition my Ring doorbell which was a nice extra touch. Everything was explained properly and the system was set up so I could start charging straight away. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking at a home EV charger install.
Common questions:
Honest answers before you commit
Is my roof suitable for solar panels?
Most south, south-east and south-west facing roofs in the UK are suitable. East and west facing roofs can also work well, typically generating around 15–20% less than an equivalent south-facing installation. We carry out a full site survey to assess your specific roof pitch, orientation, shading and structure before designing your system — so you’ll know exactly what’s achievable before committing.
What’s included in your quotes?
Our quotes include MCS-certified installation, all electrical parts and cabling, and DNO application and paperwork (which is required before the system can be switched on). Scaffolding requirements depend on your roof type and are confirmed at survey stage — we’ll be transparent about any costs before you sign anything.
How long does installation take?
Most domestic solar installations take one to two days on site. The full timeline from quote to switch-on varies depending on survey scheduling, system design, and DNO approval — typically several weeks. We’ll give you a clearer timeline once your survey is complete and your system is designed.
Should I add battery storage at the same time?
Adding battery storage at the same time as solar is generally more cost-effective than retrofitting later, as the installation can be combined. A battery lets you store energy generated during the day and use it in the evening — particularly useful if you’re out during daylight hours. Whether it’s worth it depends on your usage pattern and budget, which we’ll discuss during your survey.
Is finance available?
Yes — finance may be available via an FCA-authorised credit broker. Viable Power Solutions Ltd is an Introducer Appointed Representative (FRN: 995930) of Phoenix Financial Consultants Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. All finance is subject to status and credit checks. We can discuss options during your quote.
